Price should be 50% of decleared price and the bandwidth must be 3-4 time better then decleared 16KBps(128Kbps).

If their speed is 128kbps then its very bad.
I have used 160kbps (20KB)in GP Internet.
Now from my ISP i am geting 32KB at 1200 taka only.
I want at least 64KB at 1000 taka from Wimax.

Dear Ripon,
How do u get 160 kbps speed in GP internet?
Its totally impossible.
I get only 20 kbps(average) here.
Please tell me how?
mr91535 said
just for your information,
kbps = kilo bit per second (small “b”)
kBps = kilo Byte per second (capital “B”)
so 160 kbps,
= (160 x 1000) = 160,000 bps
= (160,000 /8) = 20,000 Bps
= 20,000 / 1024 = 19.53 kBps
we measure download/upload speed in kBps on computers.
hope this helps to understand.

I am so much upset. Wimax provide only 128kbps? I thought it would be in mbps. I have a national phone dial up connection with 230kbps. At first I got 10-15 KBps but now athough they have 230 kbps I get only 3-4 KBps
Np sucks!! Will the wimax act like that? We need atleast the speed to saw youtube video within 20-30s buffering. We need more speed to build our country digital within 2021.

Banglalion advertised 128 kbps (15.6KB) unlimited use for TK.600. Keep in mind that this is their initial offer. I am sure when there is demand in BD they will start offering several mbps.

Also anyone know what happened to the 3rd license. I know augere and Banglalion are staring soon and that brac backed out.

Good news. Augere is backed by France Telecom, so we can expect better price from them. I also heard Augere will offer at least 1 mbps (128KB) connection.

I was very much pleased to see that banglalion is going to provide 128kbps speed. But soon i realized that it’s 128kilo bit per second. We already measure our internet speed with the scale of KILO BITE PER SECOND. Where, other countries’ measuring scale is MEGA BITE PER SECOND. Why banglalion’s measuring scale is KILO BIT PER SECOND? Don’t they want to march on? Why they are using kbps scale with a large 3digit of number 128? They should not deceive people. At a first glance everyone is becoming confused of thinking that its KILO BITE PER SECOND. Banglalion sucks.

just to share with you all…
i used WiMAX in KL and getting speed 700Kbps (some time i get 1.5Mbps) and all this i get when i am on car/on bus…thats i am on mobility….people who are arguing that they can get 20KB++ in GP…is it in mobility…??? definitely not…bcoz…GSM/EDGE can not support this…
another thing i want to add…i talked with Banglalion they said..128kbps is minimum i will get…the maximum is around 50-70Mbps…so…just think about….i am paying 600++ BDT/month and getting higher bandwidth then….who will be winner…
JUST TO INFORM…..128kbps is minimum…..not fixed…if you consider 128kbps is too low…then i think u should go to google and find the actual speed of WiMAX….and then put comment and compare with so called GP internet…it really suckssssssssssss…..
GO WiMAX GO..

Shame on banglalion and their so called “high speed internet service” if they offer 15.66 Kb (I’s a crying shame for WiMAX).
And to QUAZI >> Bangla Lion will give 50 to 70 mbps..?? For What… like @ 80000 TK. Per Month..!!??… And Why do they use small letter ‘kbps’…!?? While all other countries and ISP measure their speed in KB/MB… SiMPLE,.. they just want to fool the people of bd & make the digit look bigger..Cowards>>>
Folks in INDIA can get 2 mbps for Just 300-350 rupees (with a very little installation fee) Keep in Mind that WE ALSO HAVE TO PAY ADDITIONAL 3500 TK. FOR THE MODEM TO BE WiMAXed (or should i say Wi-trapped)..
We the people of Bangladesh only need 1 MBps @800 tk. per month.. Too bad it’s never gonna happen….
So Guys don’t use WiMAX from BanglaLion (or should we say ***********..)
They can easily give us a very good speed within a reasonable price but why should they..?? The want all your money…!
Fortune Hunter said
If BanglaLion does not take installation charge then it would be good. But if it takes above 500Tk installation fees then I can say it is a big problem for people. In this poor country high price is bad. Banglalion should be practical not ambitious. Though its speed is under average but it is good for less money if it takes from people. So time will say everything.

It’s 15 KB… That’s right you’ve been cheated… Again…”
And why they want to provide 1 mb after two months.. What are they afraid of..??
And 1 mb means 120 KB.. Not 1 MB (DON’T EVEN DREAM OF IT).
It’s sad but true…

The way banglalion advertized that their spee witll be 42 times faster than landphone internet connection it seems that they meant 128 KB/sec. We can just hope that they meant 128 KB not 128kb. They should actually consider that they are investing a huge amount of money just for purchasing the licence and it will follow with heavy installation costs and other overheads, so if they want to decieve the mass people and try to sell the crap, I don’t think they will be able to do any business in Bangladesh. I think they should give a clear statement through a press briefing to eliminate the confusion among their prospective customers. As they are advertising to start their operation from 1st of JUNE, they should clear the confusion before that. If they lose the trust of public at initial stage it will be very difficult for them to regain that again, I am sure.

Now we r seeing that, most of the internet service provider company saying …they r providing the speed 128kbs,256kbs…etc, but actually we seeing they r totally lie….

All our high-speed internet browsing dream is shattered by this terrible news.. But even though one thing give me pleasure when I think that, after spending 231 crore taka only for licence BanglaLion will be a great failure & will struggle to pick their investment money.
They are doing business in Bangladesh. They should know how to deal with the people of this country.
They think they can easily fool the people of Bangladesh.. What they don’t know, that it’s not that easy.. People will only change their internet connection after seeing some logical facilities… And when you provide 15 KB @ 4715 TAKA (3500 taka for modem ; which will last for two years+690 monthly charge{600+90 vat}+525 taka VAT for modem) then there are no alternative but to fail miserabally.
Our hope is now the french company ‘Augure.’ We hope they will not dissapoint us…

Don’t be nonsense and yell at banglalion…. If our Govt selling 1 mbps speed for 22k/monthly.. how do you expect Banglkalion giving you people 1 mbps speed via wimax and charge you only 1 k or even 2k monthly? !!! Now lets calculate the rate … Lets say BanglaLion buying 1mbps for 20k from BSCCL.. then, 128kpbs speed should be around 2500 taka …
Now, if Banglalion promises you to give you 128kbps for just 600 taka monthly .. that is one hell of a good price. and those who are saying you are getting 30kB(kilobyte) which is around 256 kbps just for 1200 taka monthly … Boy, your ISP doing VOIP bzness … or the owner has so much money that he even don care spending his own money to give our boys that much bandwidth to enjoy youtube and downloading movies using torrent or rap|dshare.
Now, if any of u think, i’m somehow related to this bangalion or other ISP … I’m not .. I’m just writing here the facts … I’m paying 18k monthly for 512 kbps dedicated connection .. so if someone gives me 512kbps for 3000 taka .. I would also jump on it… but No way i’m getting that speed/price ratio for my important work. So, my request, b4 you yell at ISPs like Banglalion, ask our Govt to reduce the BSCCL bandwidth rate .. so ISPs buy at low rate and we also get internet at low rate also high speed ..
by the way, on other note, I’m glad Banglalion gonna provide minimum 128 kbps for 600 taka .. I hope they keep their words and really provide such speed.
Till my next post … `cheers all …

Mr.YDD, don’t be a retard.
We don’t measure our net speed in ‘kbps’. We measure our browsing & downloading speed in KB. So be logical.
You said goverment sells 1mb (120 KB) @ 22′k’.. What do you mean by this ‘k’. We don’t measure our paying in ‘k’. We measure our paying in ‘taka’.. So be logical.
And no matter what you say to defend banglalion.. They will fail..
If normal broadband ISP can provide 120-128 kbps (12-15 KB) @ 650 taka per month without vat & without any installation charge then who (except you) will buY their nonsense @ 4715 TAKA..
Go get a life..
YDD said
I already have a life killer dude..
ISP in all country sells bandwidth as mbps … megabit per sec .. not megabyte … like in USA I usede AT&T dsl .. 3 mbps for $25/month thats around 380 kiloByte per sec… So, if you look at those ISP’s websites, you’ll find they r selling their package stating megabit .. not megabyte … Ya, what we see in download bar while downloaing, is kilobyte thus we calculate speed with byte not bit … but ISP always sell bandwidth at kilobit/megabit not kiloByte/megabyte.
by 22k I mean its 22000 taka … thats the rate of BSCCL .. so, you can now calculate, whats the price of 128kbps(15-16kilobyte) as you said, ur local provider gives u 16 kilobyte/s for 650 taka .. u r lucky man.(also many people having 32kilobyte which is 256 kbps for 1200 taka) In Dhanmondi BDCOM charge u 1000 taka and gives u 16-17 kilobyte/s .. sirius broadband aka Zip gives you constant 30 kilobyte for 1200 taka … (please figure how they can afford it)
And with local provider now a days we face power outage.. so connection is not always 24/7 .. but with wireless, I hope there wil be no such downtime for power outage.. its true how many can afford wimax .. but my post concern was not that, what I wanted to say is, The price they set is not total illogical. BSCCL should cut the bandwith price…
When more submarine cable link will be in the country .. the price will go way low like India and some other country … but don’t expect those mpbs price rate like north america and some europian countries in some years …

More competition & lower price.. Yeah we can see what a beautiful competition we r seeing when all the mobile phone companys have doubled their fnf & other call charge.
It’s not our job to ask the gov to reduce the charge it should be the headache of those wimax ISP’s.
If BanglaLion can’t provide high-speed internet service @ affordable price then they shouldn’t have said that, “people can get 42 times faster speed in low price” and raise the expectation.
And 1.2 mb @ 5000 taka is by no means is suitable or affordable for the people of bd. Just wait & watch how BanglaLion fails.
UNK said
It’s a good news that WiMax gonna launched at last in BD, althoug speed is low. But they said it minimum, not average!
Look at what GP internet is providing: Current average speed is around 30KBPS (Kilo byte), but often we get it as low as 3-5KBPS (Kilo byte), even less than that! Then what’s the minimum speed of GP? It’s 3Kilo Byte per sec! And it’s upto 10 times as average speed!
So we can hope to get a average speed of 80-100KBPS (Kilo byte) from Bangla Lion. Yeah it’s not high speed. We need more speed to make our country a digital one!
I’ll say 80-100KB per sec is high for us in this condition of our country! Bcz we can’t hope to get MBPS (Mega byte) speed @cheap price within the next 10-15 years! It’s the reality. We should understand this.
If u use to say odd words to these sectors, there will be hard improvement!
What we should do is to change ourselves!
Our main problem is corruption. If we can get rid of it, we can hope to get MBPS speed soon, otherwise not!
Grow Up People, Grow Up Bangladesh

I agree with BB and YDD. If any one to blame it is the government. The fnf tarrif is increased because of the mobile operators you think? who stopped the free calling at night times you think? the mobile operators? No it is the government ruling. and now government has increased the fnf rate to help the state owned teletalk. We people always blame the isp’s. But we should blame the government because they are not decreasing the price. For your information you can get the minimum price to get a connection for isp visit the btrc website. u’ll see the price hike. The question is whether banglalion is giving dedicated or shared bandwidth? If it is dedicated then it would be a good speed comparing to the price and also comparing to the speed/rate ratio from the isp.

dont know what will happen, but really hoped that at least, as a residential user i will get 80-120 kB dl speed. but nothing to loose, as we are the citizen of a third world country, where corruption and cheating is an integral part of the whole system.
cheers!!

Dear Acidage,
I fail to understand the stat you provided. First, all B’s are capital, so i assume all of them are bytes, not bits. If the assumption is ok, then the trouble begins. If your speed is 437 KB/s, it’d take only 42 seconds to download 18 MB, not 9 minutes. And if u downloaded 18 MB in 9 minutes, then speed should be 32 KB/s, not 437 KB/s. 32 KB/s is easily achievably with gp sometimes, without any tricks.
And i don’t know what Banglalion will do, but if they provide only 16 KB/s, they’ll be domed with their huge license fee. I hope they won’t be dumb enough to do that. But for now, they should immediately launch a press conference and make clear statement about speed, because they’ve already got a negative image among users even before launching. This will be a lethal blow for them.

Acidage brother i just saw your pic upload and laughed throughly…. ur pc is slow thats why the cache memory showed it. lemme calculate it for you…
for the instance lemme show ur download speed:
18.67MB
duration: 9min 14sec
speed: 437kB/s????????
hahahahahhahahaha
size
18.67*1024=19118.08KB(just to make calculations easier)
time= 9min 14 secs *60 =554 ses
then ur speed is:
34.51KB/S
which is petty good as ur house is prolly near the network tower ad there are very less users or none. i was a gp user too so i knw.. please dont call yourself a hacker as u cant even calculate this and your funny pic showed this… anywayz your post made me laugh for a while soo thank you for the entertainment.. anywayz keep uploading…. ahahhahahahahahah
o btw wimax will use IP6 technology which i bet will be a piece of cake for you to hack…. hahahahhahaha
tc ppl and pray for the great wimax in BD…
UNK said
@acidage
How u get 437.83 kBps dl speed in GP?
Yeah wimax will work better. But question is: will they be able to provid best service?
Government gonna include BTCL, BSCCL and Teletalk under only a sector, which will be a pvt ltd company and will be controlled by government for a long time. Then think who will provide best internet service in BD? Obviously BTCL in very near future

GP’s ‘P1′ plan offers unlimited data access for 1 month @ 1125 taka (1000+125 VAT) per month.
Also ‘P4′ plan offers unlimited data access for 1 day [12 am - 11:59 pm] @ 71 taka (60+11 VAT). {though gp says in p4 ‘only 150 MB usage limit’ but they actually provide unlimited usage
i used this P1 & P4 through my mobile phone to pc… Not really sure about the gp modem.
I get speed around 25-30 KB…
Sometime i get 42 KB+ for few sec

That’s P2 and P4. Not P1. You should call 121 for more info about P2 and P4. P2 is now 850Taka+Vat(for postpaid) and data limit is 3GB, although they say it as an Unlimited Package. But true is they are providing a total of 3GB. If you exceed that, you’ll be charged 2 paisa/KB. Same in P4. If you exceed 150MB, you’ll be charged 2 paisa/KB.
Silent Killer said
@ UNK
I’m not sure about P1 or P2.. (confused…) I used that a long time ago, at then it was unlimited usage for 1 month.
But I’m quite sure about gp’s P4 (’cause I use it). In P4 They offer unlimited (NOT 150 MB limit) browsing, downloading & uploading for one day @ 71 taka. There are no usage limit (Really..!!). Though they say that there are 150 MB limit but it’s unlimited..!!!
Aktel also have a similar package for one day usage @ 65 taka. But unlike GP Aktel has a 200 MB limit (Not Unlimited Usage). Aktel’s browsing speed is fast but download speed is very poor (3-6) KB. So overall gp’s P4 is the best.
Silent Killer said
@ UNK

I just called GP’s 121. They said that P2 is unlimited (NOT 3 GB Limit) @ 978 taka for 1 month. They reduced their price from 1125 taka to 978 taka..
Their NEW internet package (modem+gp sim) has “3 GB Limit” @ 805 taka per month. They call it their ‘discount offer’. So brother UNK, I suggest u 2 use the ‘P2′ package for unlimited internet
You might call 121 to clarify your doubts.

I agree that grameenphone is giving all the packages for internent-P1, P2, P3 and P4.
P1- 1000tk (excluding vat) for prepaid users, 850 tk (excluding vat) for postpaid users and it is unlimited
P2- 0.02 tk/KB.
P3- 300tk (exluding vat) for night time 12am-8am. It is also unlimited.
P4- 60tk (excluding vat) for prepaid users and it is definitiely limited to 150 MB.
You can check it here: http://www.grameenphone.com/index.php?id=472
And the new campaign that is given with edge modem for 4400 tk bundle price is charging 700 tk (excluding vat) and limited to 3GB for first three months. After three months the subscriber has to choose the packages stated above.
Do you guys can’t see one thing?
grameenphone is giving the edge modem for 4000 tk. It is only an edge modem! but you’ll get a broadband modem for 3500 tk(excluding vat) when banglalion will launch. Edge modem has a limit. But the modem supplied by banglalion it can obviously take much more better than the edge modem.
Above all they didn’t launch yet. We don’t know about their quality of speed. at first when gp first introduced edge anyone of you guys used that?
with a 56kbps modem what should you think would be the download speed? 7 KB/s. Try the BTCL land line internet. I used that. costs only 10 paisa/minute (excluding vat). But with that I got as high as 10 KB/s. how is that possible? It is used to give me 7 KB/s. How can it give me 10KB/S? You can’t always calculate KB using kbps. The last friday I used to connect my nokia 6120 classic with pc. there it showed to be connected with 115 kbps. But with that I got as high as 17 KB/s. It should be then 17*8= 136 kbps isn’t it?
So how do you think 128 kbps will mean only 16 KB/s? It may be more than that. I’m not telling you it will be certainly, but who can say it’ll give us what we want from them. Time will say that.

Anyone here having disconnect problem with gp internet (P2 package) ?
I leave in Siddheswari, using gp’s P2 for 5 months, download speed 25-30 KBPS (with IDM), But line gets disconnected after each 1.5 to 2 hrs of continuous download (100 – 150 MB).
I used prepaid package, and both EDGE modem and Samsung E250, but faced this problem with both of them. In case of EDGE modem I have to unplug the modem and connect it again and restart the software driver again to get net connection. And in case of the Samsung E250 I have to disconnect it first, then restart both PC and handset.I am suspecting that the cause to this problem may be my prepaid connection and a post paid connection may solve this problem.
I face this problem when I download files continuously. If anyone is facing similar problem and want to advise solution, plz do. any help/ suggestion will be highly appreciated. thanks in advance.

@ Silent Killer
thanks for your information. I also checked out that after your post.
@ Arman1982
GP P2 is unlimited and P1 is as u go, as u pay (0.02 tk/KB). P3 is only for postpaid and P4 is for both prepaid and postpaid user.
GP is selling edge modem, which can’t use in any other network, except gprs. On the other hand BanglaLion will provide wimax modem, which also can’t work in any other network, except wimax. There is no common modem, which can be used for all network. You have buy always different modem for different network (gprs, wimax, cdma, edvo, wifi, dsl etc).
With your Nokia 6120 classic phone, you’ll be connected with 860.4kbps modem in your pc! One more thing to say you that 8 bits = 1 byte. So 128 kbps (kilo bit) can’t be more or less than 16KB (kilo byte)
Ah yeah we can hope and only can hope for a better outcome from banglalion, but there’s no surety!
But the truth is we will get nothing from banglalion indeed.
Silent Killer said
@ BB
Yeah I understand what you mean “Mr.Self-Proclaimed-Owner-of-BanglaLion.” You are trying to show the fact that by the competition like the mobile companys the price of WiMAX will also decrease. But also understand this, the way banglalion deceived the people by their “bit/byte trap”… it is going to be very hard to regain the faith. (Don’t get me wrong, but in this country almost all the local broadband isp’s measure & sells their connection in KB, So oviously people thought 128 KB)
I personally met & talked to atleast dozen of my friends & relatives who were very happy with the news of their 128 kb speed, but when they learned that its 15 KB they were very dissapointed and angry with banglalion. With the local isp providing better speed @ lower price all of them said Hell nooo way….
I think its about time for BanglaLion and other wimax companys to sit down with the gov & re-negotiate about price of bandwidth. They need to provide 128 KB @ 600 taka in wimax, not 128 kb. If they don’t do that then i don’t see any reason why the home user’s should change their net connection or even pay more than triple amount for this 15 KB crap…
Look what banglalink did when they came, they gave some unbeliveable offers to attract the customers and now they are they 2nd largest mobile network in bd. But look at warid, they couldn’t attract the customers with their crapy offers as a result they are way behind in the competition..
I also think that BanglaLion needs to give some clear statement through a press briefing regarding their speed and offers…
People are really eager & excited about wimax and high speed internet. WiMAX isp’s needs to take that opportunity.
I also heard BanglaLion is not as financially strong as Augere. While Augere paid their licence fee BanglaLion is yet to pay it completely. As a bangladeshi i would alaways want see a deshi company to dominate the market and keep our money in the country, but looks like Augere is going to be benefited with their huge foreign capital and take our money away to france.
BB said
@ Silent Killer
You have to have some faith in people, if they are “tricked” then they will not use that service any longer. Augere is backed by the Multinational France Telecom so they are loaded. Anyways, more providers, more competition equals less price for consumers. By the way Augere is 60% owned by Foreigners and 40% by Bangladeshis. And recently Banglalion paid they fee in full amount.

I face this disconnection problem at least 15-20 times per day. For example when there is a file downloading and 2-3 web page is loading there are 95% chance of getting disconnected. I haven’t found any cure for this problem. There no auto redial option for modem either. I have to restart the phone over and over again.
Is there any any gp user have any solution for this problem ??? If you have then, Please reply.

WiMAX is coming very soon, possibly 1st June in Dhaka city. And hope its speed will be better than GP. Cause GP is cutting a big service charge but her speed is very poor. Otherwise, WiMAX speed 128kbps is not so good in the internet world. BanglaLion should be increased his speed. And service charge should be in 500tk/month and 12hours (half day) for 250tk/month. And this service system should be prepaid system like prepaid mobile sim. Its maximum customer will be students and most of the student will not use it continuously.
Hope Banglalion increases his speed very soon. And without speed increase + reasonable service charge, they will not get a vast of customer.

If bangla lion gives only 15 KB (appro.) then it will hard for them to get more customers. Everybody should know some hidden costs of bangla lion.
1.The modem – 3500 tk
2.It is not prepaid. So if you use or not you have to pay 690tk(individual with vat) per month.
SO don’t be cheated. Think before do.

Aktel’s download speed is super slow. You will get around 4-6 KB. So don’t use it.

Bangla Lion’s total bandwith 2.5giga = (1024×2.5=2560 mega) and 2560 mega= 2560×1024=2621440 kilo . they totally have 2621440 kilobytes of total bandwith.
now let’s divide it with the single bandwith they are providing 2621440 / 128 = 20480 connection . so my saying is that according to that calculation they may give only 20480 connection . pls dnt neglect it and try to figure it out by ur self wat i ment .

try using by nokia pcsuite. in nokia pcsuite go to the ‘connect to internet’ and from there connect your device. Obviously there will be another modem automatically generated in your network selection folder. But try this. With this you may be able to reconnect more fast than dialup. And it might also help yor not to be disconnected. I used through this and never got disconnected. And I downloaded more than 150 MB in whole day and never got that disconnection problem.
@tanvir
where did you get 2.5 GB? that is not GB brother that is 2.5 GHz. Don’t misunderstand it. GHz is different than GB. Even BTCL (the fastest ISP in Bangladesh) use less than 25 mbps (13.6 mbps or 23 mbps). With 13.6 mbps they can give you numerous of connection. What is GP using? I’m not sure but may be they are using 2 13.6 mbps line to provide us gp internet.
arman1982 said
A wimax connection using 802.16 wlan can give a speed as high as 70mbps. So the banglalion 2.5 GHz connection can give you as high as 70 mbps speed. As it is a radio network so there should not be any limit like 20480 connection can be made. FM is another radio network. But in Dhaka every person can hear it equal clearly if he/she get the network perfectly isn’t it? So if wimax is also a radio network so everyone can except equal speed I thnk. If I’m misunderstood this matter plz anyone can make me clear about this.

FYI I am also facing the same problem by using pc suite and gp postpaid connection. But I have observed some interesting point; when I am downloading torrent file and if it is more than 3 files together, the disconnection is frequent but if I am only browsing, disconnection seldom happaned. I think when I am downloading multiple items, then the disconnection becomes frequent. With PC suite I am using blue tooth, when I am disonnected I just turn off and the blue tooth option of my mobile and turn it on again. Then with the pc suite software it is easy to reconnect. But sometimes I had to restart my phone and pc together.
@ arman1982
You are thinking that with WiMAX they will be able to give us equel speed all over the country. I don’t think it is feasible. One think you will have to remember that they will get a limited bandwidth from the submerine cable (as other ISPs and operators will also share the line) and that bandwith (i am not sure about the size of it)will be distributing between the customers like us. And mind it that there will be big organizations like BEXIMCO and others will also buy their service, so it will be definitly distributed among all. I think all depends on the bandwidth they are going to get and number of customers. Thanks.

Same Here..
I understand that when there r too many downloads going on then the disconnection occurs. But @ night i just give a torrent (single file: like a axxo movie) then when i wake up i see that my modem is disconnected & something liked 200 MB have been downloaded… Since GP’s download speed in shared it sometime goes down as little as 1-0 KB. So @ that time the modem doesn’t transfer any data, so it disconnects..
Now what i want is a ‘auto redial system’ like broadband connections so that everytime there is a disconnection the modem automatically redial itself and re-connects to the network without restarting (Just Like Broadbands)… If anybody
know, then pls tell of how..
@ Devil_st0ne
Everyone would be super happy if we get 100 KB @ 690 Taka.. But BanglaLion will give us 15 KB @ 690 Taka. And that is download speed (probably browsing speed too).
So i’ll just say to everyone to forget about this bangla-cat shit.. And just move on with your local broadband or gp net. We expected much more from them @ but they are worse than local isp’s.

From reading your comments I am sure that you are digusted by the offer of BanglaLion but the funny thing is BanglaLion is your only solution. From their offer it is too obvious that you will get all support from BanglaLion as per your demand. They are offering a connection without software, so you need not to be afraid of disconnection during your torrent download, at the same time if they keep their word and provide at least 16 KB/s download speed (average download speed should be higher) you will be able to download the files faster than GP. I am also considering to subscribe BanglaLion only for this reason.

I’m not telling about the whole country. At first banglalion most probably will launch in Dhaka. So I’m talking about dhaka. Like GSM network wireless is another kind of network.under a network coverage area like mohammadpur or uttara grameenphone can give speed as high as 16kBps for several users though they have a limited bandwidth from BTRC. 16 kBps means 128 kbps. So let us think some 1000 users are using in whole dhaka city the line at the same time. So the bandwidth should be according to Tanvir’s calculation 128*1000=128000 kbps i.e. 125 Mbps. So is it possible? No because not even BTRC have that bandwidth I think. And obviously more than 1000 users are using the gpinternet at the same time with a download speed of 16 kBps isn’t it?
My point is in case of gpinternet not the bandwidth is responsible for that download speed but the thing that is responsible, is the network that your device is getting. If the users in a network coverage area exceeds its maximum limit then only then you face a problem isn’t it?
wimax can provide the network coverage within 31miles with a maximum of 70Mbps.
unlike wifi wimax is a licensed radio network. So within this radius it has a stronger frquency than the wifi. So it is likely to have a better performance from wimax than from conventional broadband when you are in the network coverage area of a tower. Unlike the tower that grameenphone is using, the tower that will be used by banglalion should be a better one and should handle more users at the same time with greater performance. So let us wait and see what they can provide us.
We bangladeshi are not appreciating anything new at all (including me in some cases). We alwasy first see the negetive sides but we have to see the positive side also.
what are you guys think?

We needed atleast 1mb in wimax.
But they r only thinking about getting the from our pocket & making us fool.

At first we didn’t have any submarine cable which we should have at almost free of cost. But at that time the government lost the opportunity and then after a few years back they bought it for a huge amount of money. Now did you ever think how much it took for banglalion to get a limited amount of bandwidth from BTRC? They paid 215 crore tk. They can give us (the end users)what they get but not more than that. Please go through the btrc website and you will find how much it cost to take a higher bandwidth. It is ridiculously high. If BTRC isn’t giving them the bandwidth then how can they give it to us? For that should we blame the company or BTRC? Wait for Augere. I think they will face the same problem. But they may sustain bcz they have backup to get a huge bandwidth. But Banglalion is not a multinational company as far as I know. To get 215 crore tk back they have to work hard.
Let them start.
What do you think? when citycell first launched what was the price of a new connection with set? It was over 1 lakh taka. When even grameenphone start a 0171 series number with a set cost a huge amount of money. But now you can get a connection with a set with as low as 3000 tk. Just nine years back only the sim card cost 9000 tk.
At start they may be unstable. Even it may be possible you will not even get 128 kbps for first few months for the infrastructure development and some unexpected circumstances. You can’t imagine how a project can give you obstacle unless you start it.

y are u guys not calling or contacting banglalion to get the informations u need ?
i called them couple of minutes ago to know about the speed, here it is-
1.at first they’ll be only providing 128 kilo bits per second DEDICATED line from 1st june in dhaka for 690 taka
2. after couple of months they’ll provide faster speeds with additional services.
3. they’ll give 256 kilo bits per second dedicated line for 1150 taka and 512 dedicated line for 2070 taka.
4. price will go down cause government will take out the 15% vat that we have to pay now.
5.Wimax modem will cost 3000-3500 taka and can be bought at IDB building.
6. this is for home users only
so we see that they’ll provide the same speed as many big ISP’s are providing with little less cost

yap, i agree. let’s just wait & hope 4 the best. though they shouldn’t have said that people can get super high-speed (downloading a 5 MB song in 10 seconds) in cheap price. that raised a huge expectation among the people and made us ambitious. let’s just hope that gov will keep their word and improve the net for their so called digital bangladesh.

If it is a dedicated line like upol says then a 5 MB song will be downloaded within a minute or less. Because there will be no flactuation.
@upol
15% vat cut will not help much. BTRC have to reduce the bandwidth tariff. other wise a little amount money would be saved.

how will u get as u said at least 80 kilo bytes per second speed in a 16 kilo bytes per second line even if its dedicated ?

When i get constant 25-30 KB in gp, it takes me about 5 to 7 minutes to download a 5 MB song/file.
So how it is possible to download a 5 MB song/file in less 1 minutes @ 16 KB ???
Arman1982 said
have you ever continuously looked at the download speed? There you’ll see even at gpinternet always you’ll not get 16 kbps. Sometimes it become as low as 10 or 9 kBps. Dedicated means it will always remain same. Shared bandwidth could never give you 16 kBps all the time. The estimated time for a download is average of all speed. In my office I’ve downloaded 59.6 MB of a file with average 28 KB/s in 30 minute. According to your calculation it should take atleast 36 minutes or more. My friend with his 512 kbps line downloaded a movie of 600+ MB within one hour. He should download 64*60/1024*60=225 MB. so how is it possible i don’t know. There must be something I don’t know.

News paper and TV channel both are good media to Inform people about Wimax cheating ( Old wine in new bottle) same old fashion bits & bytes tangle . I think top Laval of government who are involved in this sector should be informed about it. Because they tried to introduce new technology for country’s development but plunderer of this country take advantages of their ignorance . bracNet already started distributing Wimax secretly 1Mbps monthly cost about 30,000 tk. This rate and service is only for broad band service providers .And When a service provider will get it ,soon they will divide it in to several parts when a client will get 16 to 20 kilo bytes per second and cost around 300 to 400 providers will take 600 to 1000 from you include other costs, same as a normal broad band service provider always use to do.Now question is If everything remains same as previous days than Why government introduce Wimex ?Is it for providing high speed interne to develop IT sector or make people fool? The process of distributing wimax by 3 licensed company is clearly indicating that in next 10 years Internet user of this country will not get so call “high speed ” connection.Because this syndicate is preparing to make quick money targeting ignorant students, illiterate computer users. So be careful and inform your friends and relatives about wimax cheating. Remember if people of this country become conscious only then we can build digital Bangladesh.

WiMax providers to invest up to Tk 10b each in short term
Mehdi Musharraf Bhuiyan
As state-of the-art WiMax is set to make its debut in the country’s stagnant cyber arena by the end of June, beginning with its metropolises; both optimism and scepticism encircle the business potentials of the country’s giant leap forward to the high speed wireless Internet.
Providers of the service, namely Banglalion and Augure, are planning to invest up to Tk 10 billion each in their grand venture over the next three years which would see the country join the club of 130 countries having this hi-tech infrastructure in place.
This signals a highflying debut to a risky and costly affair, which has already been dogged by a combination of financing trouble, legal procedures and a delayed start. In the months ahead, WiMax providers have to cope with the daunting task of bringing the wireless Internet home to a nation with one of the lowest online penetration rate in the world.
“We are going for trial operation by the end of May,” said Syed Farhad Ahmed, Managing Director of Aamra Networks, which is the local partner of Augure. ‘Hopefully we would become fully operational by the month of July”, he told the FE recently.
Earlier, the foreign-owned Augure became the only company to pay the WiMax licence fee; a healthy sum of Tk 2.15 billion, settled by an auction arranged by Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC) last year, in due time.
Now it is targeting a subscriber base of three million in the country within three years of commencing its operation while planning to reach the breakeven point in five years time.
Despite their failure to meet the same deadline, similar optimism was echoed by Banglalion, which is now set to become the first operator in the country to offer WiMax services by formally starting its operation in June.
“We are now aiming to roll out our network nationwide within one year, beginning with the capital city in June,” Parvez Ahmed Shamim, Banglalion’s WiMax project consultant told the FE.
This hints at a remarkable turnaround for the local venture after the local WiMax licensees were found struggling to arrange the required funds from banks to pay the licence fees after financial institutions adopted a conservative lending approach amid the global economic meltdown.
Things actually ended up in court where it has been ruled that the deadline must be extended. Accordingly, Banglalion, the highest bidder in the WiMax auction, managed to pay the licence fee in two phases, the later one of which came on March 31, after a consortium of banks headed by AB Bank agreed to finance the project.
Now a similar approach has been adopted by Mango Communications, the third player on the WiMax scene, which arrived on the stage after BRAC’s Bdmail declined to take the licence. But Mango is yet to pay the licence fee.
Mango has now resorted to a consortium headed by Prime Bank to finance them in paying the hefty amount of licence fee which would see the local company form the expected trio in the country’s nascent WiMax arena, a senior offical of the company said.
“We are still affected by the cautious lending strategy of the banks amid the ongoing global crisis,” the official said.
Apart from high speed, the state-of-the-art WiMax is also expected to bring down the cost of broadband Internet by a significant margin.
“The monthly fee for the 128 mbps connection would be Tk 600; and although the modem would cost initially Tk 3000, it would go down to Tk. 1000 within a year or so with the increasing demand and the arrival of third world manufacturers in the local market,” Parvez Ahmed Shamim of BanglaLion said.
WiMax is going to be introduced in the country at a time when wide-scale arguments continue among the industry insuders regarding the cost effectiveness of the latest technogy in the Bangladesh context; where less than two percent people have household access to internet.
It has also been argued that 3G- another wireless Internet service, for which the telecom watchdog is scheduled to arrange an auction later this year, is more suitable for the local market as the mobile operators have already got the infrastructure ready for offering such service in the country.
Rejecting such notions; the WiMax providers have asserted that Bangladesh has got the market and infrastructure capable of adapting to such technology.
“3G which is a third generation technolgy; is outdated compared to WiMax,” said Shamim Ahmed Parvez. “Moreover, WiMax is capable of offering multidimensional services, which 3G cannot offer,” he added.
“A decade ago, there were speculations over how much profitable the mobile phone service would be in Bangladesh. Now six giant operators are sharing a booming market here,” Syed Farhad Ahmed of Aamra Network said. “The same case would be with WiMax within a few years,” he added.
Three companies; namely BanglaLion, Augure and BRAC Bdmail were awarded WiMax licences at the BTRC auction last year while the state-run BTCL was also later offered a licence at the same fee. But BRAC Bdmail later withdrew from the race whereas BTCL is looking for a strategic partner for the expensive venture.

In our country Internet services and its speed is very poor and slow than our neighbour country India. In India AirTel is now giving 16Mbps speed by broadband. There are many providers in our country who give Internet services such as: Mobile operators, PSTN operators, BTCL and at last joined BanglaLion by WiMAX. We are getting more two WiMAX providers in future. But this more than one dozen providors can not giving us Hi speed Internet. Their speed limit is only 10-15kBps. Just think twice…where is AirTel’s 16Mbps and where is our 10-15kBps. Alas! Is this our digital Bangladesh? If we compare with just only India, we are really live in analog. Today I want to say to BanglaLion and coming up next 2 WiMAX providers: “Please take a future step and throw your Internet speed on Mbps not in 128kbps. Otherwise WiMAX will not rise in the Internet market. And Digital Bangladesh will be fairy tell.
BB said
Banglalion provides UNLIMITED usage. Even though airtel give 16mbps their usage limit of at MEASLY 20 Gb. no point of having that type of spped at that low usage limit.
Upol said
again y r u sticking up for banglalion ?? the highest speed they’ll provide is 512 kilo bites per second which will start early next year , just call them and check out
u r saying that airtel measly gives limit of 20 gb, well atleast the provide 16 mega bits speed for 4500 taka which of ours company gives that speed even with 45000 taka ???
BB said
I could sticking up for anyone I want. I don’t need anyones permission. Just because they said 512 kilo bites per second will start early next year doesnt mean they will not provide higher speed in the future.
arman1982 said
@upol
If you think I’m sticking with banglalion then “YES I’M”
With a 16 Mbps line only 20 gb? 16 Mbps means 2MB/s. So to use your limit you can get only 20*1024/2= 10240s=170.67min=2.84 hours download time isn’t it?
what a fun actually!! If I’m wrong calculating this thing plz correct me…
Now here is a tiny calculation comparing to your AIRTEL
With 16KB/s you can download per day = 16*60*60*24=1382400KB= 1350MB=1.32GB
and 1.32*30= 39.55GB almost equal to 40GB
If in a country like Bangladesh we can dream for launching a sattellite, where we have many other important things to care about, it is possible that everyone can play with the mass people. Let Banglalion prove we are wrong. You’re telling thing about pakistan and india. But have you ever think about how the government is backing up them? They will get help from government. But what is our government doing? Can you tell me any government helped our nation to get a better internet? What we should get almost for free we have to take it for a huge amount of money (submarine cable). Thanks to that government who have postponded that free offer. Now this government what are they doing? They are telling us they’ll work for digital bangladesh. But for making a digital bangladesh you have to pay attention first in internet. If the government can give the bandwidth more cheaply then we can get it more cheaply. The government should also force the ISP to give dedicated line but not shared line. And they should also some sort of law that will state that a bandwidth like 1 Mbps can only be given to a limited number of users. In america they are getting 10Gbps line but we can’t get even Mbps line why?
Once upon a time people said that india’s mobile call rate was lower than our country (prepaid). only 99 paisa (during that time our lowest call rate was 1.5 tk). But do you know with a 300 tk prepaid card you can only use 173 tk or something like that to call for 99 paisa? With almost double rate we can have the same talk time at that time. So think if the call rate was equal to them then we can have a 90 minutes more talk time. So tell me which was cheap?
Upol said
so whats ur basically saying that people here in bangladesh who get 25 kilo bytes per second speed and people in india who are getting 2 mega bytes per second speed are getting the same service and enjoying internet the same was then this argument is worthless.
what i am saying that , yes its governments fault that the price in bandwidth is soooo high but also why did Banglalion said that we’ll get the ultimate experience using their service? cause they are also money sucking business company who but a license for a really huge amount and then take that money from us normal people even though we had nothing to do with the bidding.
so answer me please, y did they say its HIGH SPEED INTERNET when the speed is normal
they should say cheap internet cause their speeds will be the same or little faster but cost will be less

No I’m not telling that they are the same. But for there so much highspeed you can end it within a day. So for the rest of the month what will you do? You may agree with my opinion that- if we get a faster connection what will we do at that time? we’ll start downloading everything that we can. result? the download limit can be ended within a moment. I don’t even think to compare 16KB with 2MB, atleast I’m not that dumb. I just wanna tell that everything that has a limit can’t be a good choice to choose. A broadband should be unlimited.
You are telling that banglalion is taking our money to compensate their huge license fee. So what is the fault with that? At least they keep the money within our country. Where were you people when grameenphone started their business? At that time a 0171 series number almost cost 50000 tk? At first grameenphone was giving sim with set. Where were you when they took away our money? Where were you when they charged us 6.9tk per minute only for voice calling?
An edge modem with a datasim cost you 4900tk. Why are you buying those modem? Because you get mobility. You can use them anywhere anytime but with a limited speed. If banglalion is charging you the same service with a price 4715tk price what would be the problem? Don’t tell me that grameenphone is providing the better speed. Because NO they are not providing the same speed everywhere in dhaka. There are some places in dhaka where you’ll get as low as 4-6 KB/s. And outside dhaka this scenario may be worse.
An ISP can’t give you a connection less than the BTRC unless they have a VOIP business which is illegal
Please go through this pdf
http://www.btrc.gov.bd/tariffs/approved_tariff_for_submarine_cable_related_services.pdf
you’ll find what is the present condition of Broadband price in bangladesh. Please go through the article 4. You’ll find out.

so Arman and BB have joined forces here i see.
just joking
ok i know that its mobile and nobody is forcing me in using WiMax, even though i’ll use it when they start the 512 kilo bits per second speed net
so firstly its not our fault that BTRC charged to much for the license fee, i mean 22 million taka for a license ?!?!?!
now banglalion and grameenphone charge so much cause it costs so much right ? then why dont they presure the BTRC to lower the price ? y do they suck money from us and point the finger, cowardly, at BTRC, they can say that if BTRC doesn’t lower the bandwidth theey would stop providing net, bandwidth must be cut to atleas 1/5 of its current price
i know this sounds stupid but at least they can try this, all they do is take money form us and point their finger at BTRC, its just not fair
arman1982 said
so sir what do you think? what will BTRC do? If they do so then if BTRC tell them ok no problem stop giving net. Then what will happen to us?
BTRC have no problem finding other options. But the service providers like grameenphone or other ISPs don’t have any option other than BTRC. You know if a business is like a monopoly then you can’t force that business to do anything. Think, when do grameenphone cut their call rate to 3.5tk per minute from 6tk? Only after banglalink came to business. They would never reduce call rate if banglalink was not here. They monopolized the mobile sector at that time. Though citycell was there. But still now citycell is nothing compared to other mobile operators. Do you know why f&f rate was increased by grameenphone and other operators? I think it’s because of the welfare of teletalk.
As a state owned company (though now limited company) what the BTRC says is the law. Because there is no option.
Upol said
@ Arman1982, then what should they do ? what should we do ??

Without a report or editorial no one will give any attention to any of our report.
@BB
If your information is true then look at that!!! When banglalion is about to launch then every isp is giving higher speed at a lower price to survive in this business. This is the thing. When anyone with a somewhat good quality is about to launch then others are looking for even better quality. That’s what we want.
When there are multiple competitors then we are going to get the benefit.
Definetely banglalion should either lower their price or give better speed. what do you say people? if that happens then we’ll be benefited.
What do you say BB?
BB said
@ arman1982
That was the point I was trying to get across of some of these impatient and bitter people. We should be happy Banglalion is coming to the market since this will bring more competition. And If they are a bad company then let the market work; they will be out of business. At the end of the day more competition = better price (eventually, people have to be patient). At least you got my point arman1982. And when 3G comes, the ball will get rolling. Anyone remembers how long it took for mobile minute price to go down to 1 taka?

You are looking for 3G? In mobile I think. But do you know for 3G we need wi-fi. And wi-fi is not better than wimax. As wi-fi is unlicensed radio wave unlike wimax which is licensed, it can’t give you service beyond its radius. And comparing to wimax its radius is much more less. With wi-fi you can work in a building but not in mobility like in the car unlike wimax. Its network will not be eventually good compared to wimax. Please go through this article.

mr91535 said
arman,
wi-fi and 3g is different technology.
wi-fi is used to make wireless lan between devices within limited range.
3g (HSDPA/UMTS/CDMA2000/EVDO) is used by mobile service providers to provide data/voice service. it should have minimum 384 Kbps speed during mobility and 2 Mbps while fixed.
in my other post, I’m trying to describe 3g in Bangladesh.

i m atleast disappointed with the news from banglalion. i am expecting to get 1mbps connection costing under 1000tk per month.. wimax is supposed to provide high speed internet. so if we are getting a speed of 128kbps(16kBps) which is lower than my gp internet (20 to 25kBps) speed , it must be shocking.. with a 4g technology they must provide us atleast 3g speed…. otherwise it is just a waste of technology and installment.. now from my personal point of , if banglalion will provide me a speed of 248 kbps at 800/month or so, i wont go for that. i will be with my gpinternet. cos i dont need any modem to use with my pc. i got a handset with better modem. so if i want to shift to banglalion wimax i would have to make an expanditurre of 3000tk which wont give me a better result in any sense….on the other hand i can use my net from my mobile also, where as we dont have any mobile (except one from HTC) with wimax modem…. thanks

Silent Killer said
@ BB
Who gives a $#!T about the future. That is still a LONG way from here. Starting with this speed bl can only get a handful of customers. Most of the people will have it when they get atleast 64 KB. So the sooner they do that the better.
And Xpress will offer UPTO 288 kbps, NOT minimum (they didn’t say what in their minimum offer, who knows what that is). which gp offers, if you use gp then you’ll see that most of the time it gives 11-16 KB and often it goes to 30-32 KB and beyond.
Where in the other side of the world people are getting upto 10 gbps we can’t even get out of the kbps circle.

amar kotha holo, BTCL jodi bandwidth rate na komay tahole ISP gula ki kore customer der 1000 takay 512kbps or plus dibe? !!! Please guys chk this link and find the BTCL and/or BSCCL rate
http://www.scribd.com/doc/8530967/Approved-Tariff-for-ADSL-Broadband-Internet-by-BTCL-Bangladesh
now jodi 1 Mbps (mega bit) er price 22 thousand taka hoy monthly .. then how come people here asking banglalion or any other isp for that matter to give us 1 mbps speed for 1000 taka? !!!!
Now, some of ur point will be why ISP dont force Govt to slash the rate .. Here the truth is, ISP can’t force, the rules BTRC set, is ISP has to follow all the rules and buy bandwidth that set by Govt. So, i donno how we blame ISPs for the rate.
I think, its not ISP whom we should blame its Govt who is doing this to us.
By the way, you gonna say, maybe ISP can strike and stop providing net till govt slah the rate? As i said above, they cant do this .. coz it will void the TOS with BTRC. and their licence can be cancelled.. now, If some ISP get suspended.. there will be more isp to follow BTRC rules and provide high price internet .. here the thing is, 75% custome rof major ISPs are corportae clients, who is maybe not happy but not unhappy to pay like 25 thousand taka for 1 Mbps connection for their office works .. So, lets not yell and shout at ISP like banglalion mango or augure for that matter.. if u really need to shout .. raise ur voice against Govt.
Imran said
Bangla Lion and other ISP are not the same and no where In the Policy and rate chart of BTCL mentioned that the rules will be implemented for both Broadband and Wimax. So don’t mix up other ISP with Wimax Because government Bring this technology to provide high speed internet in cheap rate.If it is not than why we need so call Wimax ? And it is known by every learned citizen of this country that Wimax providers are being given top most prioraty and support.

yeah, the gov might.. just might set the highest price for net to tk 300 only. That’s a brave step taken by the gov at last. Also they will allow VoIP to be leagally used.
They said that they will withdraw the 800 tk tax over the sim card. But none of this is yet passed though.. we’ll just have to wait & see.

Last weapon of Bangla Lion
The Last weapon of Bangla Lion is “DEDICATED BANDWIDTH” . Most of ignorant Internet user still thinking dedicated bandwidth will give them super fast speed . In Bangladesh first WARID introduced dedicated service in their post paid package two years ago.Speed was 128kbps.They couldn’t attract customers because of their high package rate .After that Teletalk started their dedicated service of 64kbps a steady 10Kbps for full one year, their service continued till the last 2008 submarine cable disruption.Still citycell service of 128 kbps can be compared with dedicated service because i am using this service and always get a steady 16Kbps
even in bad weather.I didnt heard about it that,in dedicated service a 16KB user will get 30KB.
I belive sharebandwith is better than dedicated service if a limited usere share it.It all depends on how many people are sharing at the same time.High speed shared bandwith is far better than Turtle speed dedicated service.

http://broadbandinbangladesh.wordpress.com/2009/03/31/bit-byte-and-kilo-mega-giga-tera-peta/
Are the calculation here on the given link right?
speed of bandwidth is alwasy given in power of 2 as long as I found like 16,32,64,128,256,512 and 1024KB or 1MB.
If I’m wrong please somebody help me understand. Is it like binary units and other units?
mr91535 said
arman,
1 MB (mega-byte) is always equals to 1024 KB (kilo-byte) in terms bit-byte technology, and so 1 KB = 1024 byte.
however hard-disk manufacturer may use 1000 to represent kilo/mega/giga/tera to calculate easily as a marketing technology.
Also ISP usually use mb/kb (bit) based on 1000 and my post would be helpful to convert it in actual byte terms – the way we calculate in computers.
An interesting article you can find here,

It is true that Tisp service was introduced in 1st April 2007.As it was announced on 1st April some people described it as April fool joke. But it is not a joke at all. Here is the official press release By Google:
http://www.google.com/tisp/press.html
Do you think giant company like Google will make people fool officially, which is against the law of USA?????????????????????????????????
I am Jhon from NewYork using Google’s free wireless broadband service since last two years with out any interruption.See the video how I setup Google’s TiSP .I hope it will prove everything.

Arefin gave so many wrong information without any prove.
AT&T and Verizon none of them are only broadband service provider.
They provide High Speed Internet with home phone service. In their package you will get so many services with free hardware supports and necessary accessory .If you divide the cost of internet from their whole package then monthly Internet bill of 1.5 MBPS not more than 5$
only 400 TK ( Bangladeshi curacy).I think it is not fair to compare Bangladesh with USA. You should compare u with Pakistan . Pakistan providing 1 MBPS just in 1500 TK (Bangladeshi currency). For your more information I gave AT&T and Verizon package rate from their sites.
Do some math and find out how cheap their internet service is.
AT&T:(Be online and on the phone at the same time, no need for a second phone line)

Hello Mr. John (I assume fake guy who defends Imran’s wrong info)
You are using Google wireless service? which is this TISP service?

Yes man, I’m sure you enjoying your free TISP from google…
I still can read so many article abt this fake Tisp which was really a april fool joke .. Chk here >>
http://www.evosync.net/google-tisp-beta-april-fools-joke/
If you don’t trust this site .. People why don’t you look at the following link and see if Google really makes jokes or not … I hope u trust a site like wikipedia ..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google’s_hoaxes#Google_TiSP
Now about the broadband rate in usa and mainly abt AT&T and verizon ..
I followed your AT&T link and it leads me to the following link,
http://www.att.com/gen/general?pid=11523
Where I can read clearly the follwing line,
“AT&T High Speed Internet Direct Basic (up to 768 Kbps downstream) is also available for $19.95 per month with a 12-month term commitment. Please call 1-800-288-2020 to learn more.”
Now When I visited your Verizon link, on that page .. In the plan column .. the most right part of the column says its $19.99/month for 1 Mbps with 1 year contract ..
Now listen U John fag, don’t jump on people without knowing whether they r right or wrong .. be sure abt what you are saying .. and Mr. fake John, I’m pretty good at math i think .. Otherwise I couldnt pass from BUET with 3.8 cgpa from EEE department ..(sorry guys, i wouldnt say this in public, but this fake John made me illiterate without knowing me, thats so mean)
And to the main topic .. I guess we should give 1 yr or so to Wimax providers and see what they offer .. When i was in BD .. I can remember I Bought the SIM card from GP for 11000 taka and call rate was 6.90 taka/min … so lets give them time and hope they will do something good for us …
Anyway, weeknd is over .. office works again from tomorrow .. so some of u keep fighting … maybe i’ll stop by in a few month .. so after this comment .. if John and imran jump on me .. There won’t be any reply … I hope they 2 will be happy saying whatever they want …
Have nice time all …

The link of AT&T provided by Jhon is the Standard Reta for NewYork. The packege rate differ based on area. But the link provided by Arefin is their main portal.where you see only average rate for all states of USA.You can not get the genuine rate of a stat as long as you register form that particular area.
1.5Mbps $19.95 and 768 Kbps $19.95 both are correct. one is area standered plane and another is average rate.I called them 1-800-288-2020 and be sure about it.
Jhon’s standered plane:
http://www.usa.att.com/dsl/plans/standard.jsp
Arefin’s average rate:
http://www.att.com/gen/general?pid=11523
If you register from NewYork then you get all the below services just in 19.95$ month.
*Unlimited high-speed Internet access
*Up to 1.5Mbps download speed
*Instant connection (no need to dial-up!)
*Be online and on the phone at the same time, no need for a second phone line
FREE DSL Modem and Installation Kit ($149 value)
FREE Live Technical Support
FREE Spyware Software
FREE Parental Controls
FREE Pop-up Ad Stopper3
Six e-mail IDs
Up to 150MB of Web-page space
FREE Anti-spam and Anti-virus e-mail protection
E-mail switching tools4
20 FREE hours/month dial-up Internet access for when you’re away from home1
See all these services you are getting just in 19.95$ monthly.
I think Jhon rightly said if you cut down other services your Internet bill of 1.5 MBPS will be not more than 5$ only 400 TK ( Bangladeshi curacy).
Now come about verizon.Verizon’s average rate for 1 Mbps is $17.99 monthly.I don’t know what would be their area based standered rate.I think Jhon will soon answre this.

I don’t understand the term “Turbo up your surfing to 42 times the speed of dial-up with Banglalion WiMAX” which is written on the official site of bangla-cat. I mean they are only providing 16 KB, no more than that. Then how come 16 KB is 42 times faster than dial-up ??
Since you are the owner of banglalion, i thought you would be the right person to ask about this & hope for a sensible and logical answer.

so can I use wimax in wifi adapter…..cuz all the lptp in home got wifi…none of it has wimax embeded…So look like LION gonna suck my balls over 3-4 thousand taka….plz answer
One more thing…you guys are missng from all the comment….
That when all the consumers will be link with a singular ISP…they can exchange their file with about 1Mbps to 10 Mbps speed….WIRELESSLY…
I use BDCOM and done this with to my 6 or 7 friends (BDCOM) so it will be fun…not wirelessly…but over same ISP connection …So its just a thought
about the IP TV…what they are gonna do is CACHE the tv data in a server from 5 to 10 min lag….then stream it to your laptop or PC…its a shitty thing…that u`ll be paying for something that BDLION have to spend nothing on it….its almost same as home wireless networking …..just here it is in really broad range….
LASTLY about the speed….
Ummnn gotta hate bd govt. here….lion is cat here…and they will also gonna do nothing….I went to the stall of BDLION at BCS expo this year 2009….and the guy at the desk said…this whole year they gonna keep the 15 KB speed.. thats what I m guessing, too….
